Older Fitzrovia newsletter June 2012

Time to Sing got off to a great start in May and will continue every Monday 11-12.30 (except for the Bank Holiday weekend) to the end of July at Fitzrovia Court, 24 Carburton St W1W 5AS. Come and have fun singing familiar songs with a friendly group of people. There are no auditions, it’s open to anyone who likes to sing! Experienced musician Angela Reith leads the singing.

Fitzrovia Poetry Workshop will no longer meet due to falling attendance. Writers who would like to develop their work can try Westminster Writers at Marylebone Library (cnr of Gloucester Place), which meets Mondays (except bank holidays), 6.30-7.45pm. I am working on another literature-based activity which will be piloted in July.

Massage/Reflexology is on Wednesdays, 1.30 – 3:30pm in Fitzrovia Court. Please call me on 020 7580 4576 to book – if you haven’t had one in a while please call and we can discuss what time.

Our weekly Lunches will continue on Thursdays, 1pm at Fitzrovia Court. The charge is £3, and SPACE IS LIMITED so please let me know by Weds at 12pm on 020 7580 4576 if you would like to have lunch with us. We can also do a vegetarian option on request.

The Expert Patient Programme will start another course in September. This is led by patient-trainers who have long-term health conditions themselves. So far most participants have found it very helpful and uplifting. If you’re interested and live in Westminster (or go to a GP in Westminster including Fitzrovia Medical Centre) please get in touch with me on 020 7580 4576.

All Souls Clubhouse does lunches on Wednesdays, 1pm for anyone over 60, £3.50. To book, phone 07806487690. For details of their other activities, phone 020 7387 1360.

Co-ordinator Karen Honeysett is also taking part in Nightrider, a 100km overnight cycle ride in London to raise money for their ClubCare repairs project. To sponsor her phone 020 7255 9756, or go to http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/KarenHoneysett
