Older Fitzrovia Newsletter – May 2013

So, Spring has finally sprung…and the FNA is finally moving! Apologies for no newsletter last month, the place we thought we were going to in February fell through. We were lucky and another place came up straight away – 5a Goodge Place W1T 4SD. We should be actually going in early May. Our phone numbers will stay the same. Tuesday Advice sessions at FNA will be affected but everything else will remain in place.

Another ‘finally’! Computer classes are starting at Fitzrovia Court 24 Carburton St on Weds, 8 May, 10-11.30am in the basement ‘Craft Room’. Attia will teach basic skills like internet searches, email, online safety over six sessions. The first two sessions will be about file management and finding your way around your computer. The classes are limited to 5 people, please pre-book with me on 020 7580 4576. If you miss out on this there will be another set of sessions starting in July.

All Souls School children will be coming to sing for us Tuesday, 14 May at 2pm at Fitzrovia Court. This is always a lovely occasion, please join us!

Time to Sing is on Mondays 11am – 12.15pm at Fitzrovia Court, 24 Carburton St. No experience or skills necessary. Have fun singing familiar songs with a friendly group of people! There will be no sessions 27 May & 3 June.

Lunch on Mondays is available at the George and Dragon pub on the corner of Cleveland and Greenwell Sts from 12.30, at a discounted price of £3 for main meal only, drinks extra. This is through a kind donation from Sir Robert MacAlpine, contractors on the old Middlesex Hospital site. This is really for people on this list or who live in Fitzrovia only – you’re welcome to bring friends from outside the area but they’ll have to pay full price for their meal.

My colleague Samina is starting another women’s cultural art project for Monday afternoons, this time to produce a collective art work which will be displayed as part of the Colombian Gold exhibition at the British Museum this autumn. It starts Mon 29 April 1-3pm at either 39 Tottenham St or if we’ve moved, the new place. It is free, all women welcome.

Massage/Reflexologyis on Wednesdays, 1.30 – 3:30pm in Fitzrovia Court. If you’re new to the programme or have been on it and haven’t had a massage for a while, do give me a call to make an appointment on 020 7580 4576.

There’s another chance to see Ice Age Art: arrival of the modern mind at the British Museum at a community viewing on Saturday 25 May at 6.50pm. Please get in touch with me on 020 7580 4576 to book, tickets are very limited.
