Older Fitzrovia Newsletter September 2013

Sorry to keep saying this, but the FNA still hasn’t moved, we’re (still) waiting for the lawyers to agree terms. It’s looking now like we won’t be moving to 5a Goodge Place W1T 4SD until mid-September. When we do finally go however we’ll be just around the corner!

The British Museum will be bringing samples from their Money and Wealth collection to Fitzrovia Court 24 Carburton St on Thursday 12 September 11am-12pm for people to see and even handle! These sessions are a great way to get up close to some of the museum’s artifacts, please join us for what is always a fun and stimulating event.

Time to Sing will start up again Monday 2 September at Fitzrovia Court. No experience or skills necessary. Come have fun singing familiar songs with a friendly group of people!

Lunch on Mondays is available at the George and Dragon pub on the corner of Cleveland and Greenwell Sts from 12.30, at a discounted price of £3 for main meal only, drinks extra. This is through a kind donation from Sir Robert MacAlpine, contractors on the old Middlesex Hosp. site.

Computer classes are on Wednesdays, 10-11.30am in the basement Craft Room at Fitzrovia Court. Since people are at different levels, the classes will be run more like a surgery to deal with particular questions you have. We have spaces for 5 people, please pre-book with me on 020 7580 4576. This may be the last month for these classes, so do come in with your questions for Attia.

Massage/Reflexology is on Wednesdays, 1.30 – 3:30pm in Fitzrovia Court. If you’re new to the programme or have been on it and haven’t had a massage for a while, do give me a call to make an appointment on 020 7580 4576.

petition has been started by nurses who trained at Middlesex Hospital, to get the development on the site called ‘Old Middlesex Square’ instead of the other proposed names which erase its existence. It is online at http://www.change.org/en-GB/petitions/westminster-council-renaming-the-new-development-in-mortimer-street-old-middlesex-square-3 Let me know if you want to sign this but don’t have access to the internet, I’m happy to help.

All Souls Clubhouse has a range of friendly exercise classes available. They also run two very useful services: Clubcare which includes visiting and other help, and a shopping trip available every fortnight on Thursday. The lunches on Wednesdays are also still going. If you’re interested in any of these, please call Cherry on 020 7255 9756.
