Older Fitzrovia Newsletter

Interested in singing? Please let me know – I am considering starting up a singing group with someone from the Royal Academy of Music soon. Whether you think you can sing or not it can be very enjoyable…

Fitzrovia Poetry Workshop will meet on Monday, 2 April, 2.30-4pm at Fitzrovia Court, 24 Carburton St W1W 5AS. All are welcome to bring their own work or that of others to share and discuss.

Massage is on Wednesdays, 1.30 – 3:30pm in Fitzrovia Court. If you’re interested please call me on 020 7580 4576 to book a 15-minute slot – if you haven’t had one in a while please call and we can discuss what time. These sessions will continue throughout the month.

The next Expert Patient Programme is starting on Thursday 19 April at Fitzrovia Court, 10am-1pm (with a half-hour break). We’re offering a free lunch afterwards to participants. This is led by patient-trainers who have long-term health conditions themselves. There was very good feedback from the last group of sessions. If you’re interested and live in Westminster (or go to a GP in Westminter including Fitzrovia Medical Centre) please get in touch with me on 020 7580 4576.

Our weekly lunches will continue on Thursdays, 1pm at Fitzrovia Court. The charge is £3, and SPACE IS LIMITED so please let me know by Weds at 12pm on 020 7580 4576 if you would like to have lunch with us. We can also do a vegetarian option on request. NB: We will take a break Thursday after Easter, so April 12 there will not be a lunch.

All Souls Clubhouse has regular activities running for older people, including Art class, Tai Chi, Keep Fit and Falls Prevention & a Money Lounge which offers tips on personal finances. For enquiries about what’s on offer, please phone 0207 387 1360 or look at our website www.clubhousew1.org.

They aren’t well advertised, but many suppliers offer Fuel discounts for pensioners, especially people over 75 and/or on Pension Credit. Call your supplier to ask about this or come in to our weekly drop-in advice session on Tuesdays 10am-1pm and we can help you.

Have a happy Easter!
