Older Fitzrovia newsletter, December 2012

The kids from All Soul’s School will be coming to sing for us on Tuesday, 18 Dec, 2pm at Fitzrovia Court, 24 Carburton St W1W 5AS. The Time to Sing singers will also be doing a couple numbers. Do come along for what is always an enjoyable occasion!

Free Christmas Hampers will be available, arranged by the Fitzrovia Neighbourhood Association in partnership with Sir Robert McAlpine Ltd who are doing the building work on the old Middlesex Hospital site. Please get in touch with me on 020 7580 4576 if you would like one or know someone it would help through the holiday season to arrange delivery.

Time to Sing will carry on Mondays 11am – 12.15pm at Fitzrovia Court. There will be a break from 24 Dec and then will start again 7 Jan. No experience necessary, have fun singing familiar songs with a friendly group of people!

Massage/Reflexology is on Wednesdays, 1.30 – 3:30pm in Fitzrovia Court. If you’re new to the programme or have been on it and haven’t had a massage for a while, do give me a call to make an appointment on 020 7580 4576. There will be no sessions 26 Dec, 2 Jan.

Need help with Computer skills? I will be available 1.30 – 3.30 Wednesdays to help with basic skills like email, web search and online event booking in the Fitzrovia Court lounge. No booking necessary. I’m looking at starting more formal classes soon.

The next Expert Patients Service course will start in late January/early February at Fitzrovia Court, please let me know if you would like to take part. The six-week course is for people with long-term health problems or those who care for them, and it is run by patient-trainers who themselves have long-term illnesses. The many things covered include daily planning to overcome depression, non-pharmaceutical methods of helping with pain, and dealing with health professionals. Some have said it was ‘life-changing’ for them.

I’ll be away from the office 20 December -7 January. I hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year’s!
