Number crunching economic deprivation statistics

We have pulled out the economic deprivation statistics for the seven lower layer super output areas (LSOAs) covering Fitzrovia and put them into a single spreadsheet. We looked at three statistics: working-age benefits claimants; pension credit claimants; and families in work receiving tax credit.

The combined LSOAs actually cover a slightly larger area than Fitzrovia but include all parts of Fitzrovia as defined by recent neighbourhood area designations by Camden Council and Westminster City Council.

One statistic that stands out is the percentage of “families in work receiving tax credit”. The London average is 64%; and the England average is 74.3%. In three of the LSOAs covering Fitzrovia 75% of families in work are receiving tax credit.

The spreadsheet below gives the details and reference to the source of information.
